Sam Graves Bashes Three over the Wall

Sam Graves went yard three times in a Philadelphia Phillies victory over the San Diego Padres at Citizens Bank Park.

“I was in a groove,” he said. “Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit.”

For the day, the Philadelphia designated hitter went 3-for-4 against San Diego with 7 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Phillies to the 10-6 win.

“I tell you what. I’m shocked because I didn’t think that last ball had enough to get out,” he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. “I thought it was just going to be a long out.”

Sam Graves flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Luis Zavaleta in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Chris Amstutz in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Chris Amstutz in the 8th.

Graves is hitting .260 this year with 24 home runs and 69 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .318, 29 walks and scored 53 times.
