Worst. Champs. Ever. Remarkably Unremarkable Braves Outlast League in Bloody Postseason For All

It was all about winning for the Atlanta Braves — and win they did. In the playoffs that is. Regular season? That’s another story as the Braves were one of the worst teams in all of the league after unneccessarily disrupting what seemed to be a well built initial roster. Then after backing their way through September and taking everyone and anyones best shot day in and day out… they somehow found themselves fortunate enough to qualify for a one game playoff. It was there they developed their new secret weapon… luck. Luck for the Braves meant pain for their opponents. Player after player would suffer debilitating ailment, taking them from the biggest stage and planting them in a hospital gown or a warm up t-shirt for the remaining days of their team’s tragic postseason. The black magic spun up by Chief Nakahoma, the Braves old beer drinking, culture appropriating Native American mascot from the 1980’s, was so wide reaching that it even claimed an opposing pitcher on a day in which he wasn’t scheduled to play.

As far as on the field… there was nothing fancy in how they went about it, players said, they just prepared mentally and physically and then went out and played baseball.

“We did the little things right and we did the big things right,” said first baseman Matt Olson, who was named series MVP. “It’s a shame about those guys on teams we were playing but that wasn’t our fault. Now we’re the league champions.”

Atlanta defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 4-1 at Truist Park to take the series 4-1.

“Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you make your own luck,” said Atlanta manager Miguel Garcia. “We got lucky a few times, but mostly we did the right things by being prepared for each game and playing the game the way it’s meant to be played.”
