In a move that has fans in both cities buzzing, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Carolina Flight have agreed to a deal that will have 34-year old LF Dave Tanquary heading to Carolina in exchange for 21-year old minor league 2B Ernie Daniels. Provided they pass a physical, the players should be with their respective teams in time for tomorrow’s games.
Tampa Bay will retain a portion of Tanquary’s remaining contract.
This year Tanquary has socked 25 hits in 136 at-bats for a .184 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .273 pace and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
