Detroit Tigers won a nail-biting series against the Boston Red Sox 4-3, wrapping up the Divisional Series finale 6-5 at Comerica Park.
Tigers catcher Luis Vargas was named the series MVP.
He batted .346, drove in 7 runs and scored 6 to lead Detroit into the next round of play.
“Luis was real solid for us, real solid,” said Tigers manager Steven Lerud. “I normally say I’d like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time.”
