Divisional Series Goes the Distance, Bronx Bombers Prevail

In a series that had a little bit of everything, the New York Yankees have edged the New York Mets.

The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Divisional Series, with a 4-3 win in the clincher being the difference for New York and giving them the ticket to the League Championship Series with a 4-3 series triumph.

“We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done,” said Pat Byrnes, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Byrnes hit .400 with a .438 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The League Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
