It’s all done except the paperwork. The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a trade that will send 30-year old RHP Kevin Shabazz to Washington, while 23-year old minor league LHP Jared Holcomb will be shipped to Pittsburgh. A top front office executive with the Pirates described the trade talks as “quick and easy.” “We’re glad to get this deal done. We think it’s something that helps our ball club and it didn’t take too long at all to sort this one out,” he said.
Pittsburgh will retain a portion of Shabazz’s remaining contract.
Shabazz has nailed down 9 saves to date. In 28.2 innings he has fanned 26 batters and walked 13. His pitching record is 1 win and 1 loss with a 1.88 ERA.
