There were plenty of hugs and handshakes all around as 18-year old minor league 1B Juan Cardenas and 21-year old minor league 2B Nate Fisher left the Seattle Mariners today en route to joining the Tampa Bay Rays organization. 30-year old LF Dave Tanquary and 31-year old LHP Vince Reister will be traveling to Seattle Mariners to complete the swap.
Tampa Bay will retain a portion of Reister’s remaining contract.
Thus far this season Reister has posted a 5-6 record, started 19 games, struck out 81 batters in 97.2 innings and compiled a 4.05 ERA.
