It’s being reported in the New York press that the Mets have traded 21-year-old minor league RHP Jeff Jeffrey, 23-year-old minor league RF Chris Mottola and 36-year-old RHP Joe Kelly to the Boston Red Sox for 34-year-old 1B Anthony Rendon and $5,000,000 in cash. However, there is no confirmation by the two ball clubs.
Thus far this season Kelly has compiled a 1-1 record, made 17 relief appearances with no saves, hurling 24.2 innings and striking out 29. He has held the opposition to a .282 batting average with a 5.47 ERA.
So far this year Rendon is hitting .258 with 20 home runs.
The Toronto Blue Jays announced a deal with the Mets today, sending 26-year-old LF Bo Bichette to New York for 29-year-old LF Anthony Santander and 20-year-old minor league LHP Jonathon Chalk. It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly.
In 46 games this season Bichette has compiled a .206 batting average with 39 hits and 12 home runs. He has also scored 22 times and knocked in 19 runs.
This season Santander has hit at a .250 clip and produced 15 RBI, 5 home runs and 21 runs.
