Thousands of fans braved the wind to watch and cheer as baseball’s latest legend, Alex Bregman, was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame today. With his 447 home runs, 2489 hits and lifetime .271 batting average, everyone knew the gifted third baseman belonged with the immortals of the game. Still, Bregman remained humble.
“I’m a very lucky person to be born with the skill to play baseball and through baseball I built a name for myself,” said Bregman. Now his career as a baseball player is complete. “This seals it,” he said. “To get the recognition that every ballplayer seeks — this is completion for me.”
Bregman retired at 40 in 2034. He was inducted as a member of the Houston Astros, earning votes from 80.0% of eligible voters. In his epic career he played in 2504 games and finished with 1500 RBIs and 1637 runs scored.
