Postseason Bid Ends for Chicago

A late-season playoff push is not in the cards for the Chicago Cubs. The club today was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention.

“There are a lot of long faces around right now,” said Cubs manager Vinny Lopez. “You know in your head that every year, most teams in baseball have to go through this, but it still hurts when you realize you’ve lost your shot at a title.”

This is the club’s 4th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2028.In total, the Cubs have missed the playoffs 139 times in their 162-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Cubs have made the playoffs 3 times. Chicago last won the World Series in 2024.
