Manager Luis Rivera is out of work. Philadelphia Phillies general manager Gohel told the press today that Rivera had been fired.
The team said several factors led to his decision. He said that a combination of team performance, personality and overall direction of the team eventually led to Rivera‘s dismissal.
“It’s never an easy decision, but I’m paid to make hard decisions and do what’s best for this team and its fan base.”
It was a dark day for GM Jeff Husted as well. The Philadelphia Phillies fired Husted earlier today because of the team’s poor record.
A replacement has not been named.
