In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the San Diego Padres have swapped 28-year-old C Francisco Mejia, 33-year-old 3B Max Muncy, 25-year-old minor league LHP Omar Cruz and 25-year-old minor league RHP Alex Arzaga to the New York Mets for 30-year-old SS Corey Seager and $3,000,000 in cash. The Padres GM told reporters, “We saw a chance to upgrade our ball club and took it.”
Currently Mejia has 7 home runs and a .262 batting average.
Hitting .272 to date, Seager has 12 home runs and 37 RBIs. He has played in 85 games.
