Despite the best efforts of Rusty Brittain, the Oakland Athletics have won the Divisional Series.
The Cincinnati Reds standout was named series MVP, even though his team lost to Oakland 5-3 in the final game, and dropped the series 4-2.
“Hats off to them, they deserve to be moving on,” Brittain said at Great American Ball Park after being awarded his MVP trophy. “I just wish I could trade this trophy in for a chance at the World Series.”
For their part, the Athletics celebrated long into the night, as they are now set to move on to the League Championship Series.
The Oakland Athletics don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Washington Nationals – Minnesota Twins series. Washington leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 19th , 2030.
