Let loose, Cincinnati fans, your team has won the National League Central Division.
The Cincinnati Reds have officially captured the crown, the 19th in franchise history.
“We’ve got a team that can do it all and we think do it just as well as anyone in the league,” said closer Eric Elmore. “I hope no one is taking us lightly once the playoffs start.”
Certainly the team’s division crown will garner them a fair bit of respect, as the 89-57 record puts the club in position for the franchise’s 6th Major League Baseball championship.
“You never get tired of being in the playoffs,” said manager David Bell. “This is what you play for.”
