Yankees: GM Baker Claims AL East is Over

In a stunning declaration, New York Yankees GM Ethan Baker declares victory in the AL East while the Bronx Bombers currently sit 4 games back of the division-leading Boston Red Sox and don’t even hold a spot in the Wild Card.

Yankees Manager Jose Oquendo took the team to a quick start last season and all the way to the World Series, losing in 7 games to the Cubs. But the 2025 season didn’t start out so hot. After April, the team had an abysmal 10-21 record.

“Nothing was going right for us. We actually had outscored our opponents overall, but it didn’t show in the standings,” Oquendo explained.

“Right. It was all situational,” Baker interjected. “I think we just made the wrong decisions at the wrong times. Jose here needed some–how would you say it–encouraging words. Yeah, that’s it. I gave him some encouraging words in this the final year of his contract. Losing can give you a real headache.”

Oquendo winced slightly and began rubbing the back of his head unconsciously as Baker explained his methods.

“Since I gave those encouraging words to the manager here, we’ve really turned things around!” Baker exclaimed. The team has gone 25-13 through May and June. “We’re gonna win the AL East. It’s pretty much over already. We got Bleuze and Garcia back now from their injuries. Garcia was Rookie of the Year last year, and Bleuze was just behind him, you know. The Red Sox are falling apart. They are 2-8 this month. They got no shot here. We win this division by a few games in the end. I’m thinking about renewing Oquendo’s contract another year.”
