After eliminating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 in the Division Series at Petco Park, the victorious San Diego Padres will now move on to the next round: the League Championship Series.
San Diego beat Los Angeles 3-1 in the series. The MVP trophy was awarded to Padres center fielder Max Kepler, who knocked in 8 runs, hit .400 and scored 4 times.
“The guys were all chanting ‘M-V-P’ when I went into the clubhouse,” Kepler said later, with a smile. “It was kind of embarrassing but it feels great to be here.”
The San Diego Padres will play against the New York Mets in the next round. New York won their series against the St. Louis Cardinals 3 games to 0. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 16th, 2023.
