Mets Set to Face Red Sox in the World Series

Are the New York Mets a team of destiny?

The club is feeling that way after beating the San Diego Padres in the League Championship Series to advance to the World Series.

“I think everyone in the clubhouse is realizing there’s no reason whatsoever we can’t win the World Series,” said right-hander Lucas Sims, who was named series MVP. “Confidence is key and we’ve got plenty of it right now.”

New York won the final game by a score of 8-0 at Citi Field and took the series 4-2.

For the series, Sims had a 0.00 ERA over 15.2 innings pitched. He added 24 strikeouts with a 2-0 record.

The excitement in Boston is palpable as the local club has advanced through the League Championship Series.

The Boston Red Sox downed the Houston Astros 6-2 tonight at Fenway Park, to take the series 4-2.

“Things are going to get crazy in Boston for the World Series. The fans are going to be behind us 100 percent, we know that,” said J.D. Martinez, who earned MVP honors.

“There’s a lot of motivation in our clubhouse right now to make sure we give them something to cheer about.”

For the series, Martinez hit .304 with a .385 on-base percentage. He had 7 hits, 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Boston Red Sox will play against the New York Mets in the next round. New York won their series against the San Diego Padres 4 games to 2. The World Series is scheduled to begin on October 26th, 2023.
