Degrom Hurls 2 Hitter

Mets Blank Blue Jays, deGrom Wins: In a remarkable performance, New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-0 in an impressive 2-hit shutout.

“My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working,” he said later. “It doesn’t get any better than this.”

The Mets hurler finished with 10 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.

“It was a rough one for my guys,” Toronto manager Charlie Montoyo said following the game. “We weren’t at our best and their guy was.”

This season deGrom has a 7-1 mark in 9 starts with a 2.60 ERA. He has given up 44 hits in 72.2 innings, struck out 103 and issued 14 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .171 batting average against him.
