The Tampa Bay Rays are heading to the World Series, having narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Tampa Bay edged Los Angeles in the series 4-3, with a win at Rosland Capital Stadium in the clinching game by a 6-1 margin.
Luis Villamar turned in a strong offensive performance for the Rays and got series MVP for his efforts.
“I’ll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over,” he said. “What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win.”
It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Villamar continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.
For the series, he hit .500 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The World Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
