Yankees Heading to League Championship Series

The New York Yankees clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the Colorado Rockies room was filled with despair and sadness after the Divisional Series concluded.

“Someone’s got to win and someone’s got to lose, we’re just glad we’re on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this,” said Juan Contreras, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance.

New York won the final game by a 6-5 count at Colorado Field and the series 4-1.

Colorado manager Matt Powell was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series.

“They were the better team and deserve to move on,” he said.

For the series, Contreras hit .316 with a .350 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 4 runs.

The League Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
