Fernando Tatis Jr. got just what he wanted after deciding to enter the free-agent market: a strong offensive performance in 2035, highlighted by his selection as the National League Most Valuable Player Award.

The 36-year-old third baseman for Chicago churned out a .322 batting average while amassing 192 hits, 23 doubles, 5 triples, 41 home runs, 141 runs and 126 RBIs.

His performance virtually guarantees him a lucrative payday from whichever team he signs with during the offseason.

Arturo Gaytan of the Milwaukee Brewers finished second in voting, while Jon Ferguson of the Chicago Cubs finished third.
