Romero Slaps 5 Hits

Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Juan Romero had a day to remember at Citizens Bank Park today, ripping apart the Arizona Diamondbacks and sparking the Phillies to a 4-3 victory.

Romero wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-8.

“I’m usually a first ball hitter,” Romero told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. “I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I’ve always found that it’s better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it.”

Juan Romero singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, flied out in the 11th, singled in the 13th and singled in the 15th.

Looking at his present stats, Romero has compiled a .390 batting average in 19 games with a .378 on-base percentage, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 17 runs.
