Colorado left fielder Gilberto Ontiveros had a field day at Colorado Field, battering Detroit pitchers and hitting for the cycle.
Ontiveros sparked the Rockies to a 12-11 triumph over the Tigers by going 4-for-5 with 4 runs batted in and scoring 2 runs.
“I was seeing the ball great today,” Ontiveros said. “I’m glad it translated into results on the field.”
Gilberto Ontiveros hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Eddie Massey in the 9th.
Ontiveros is batting .329 this year with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 46 hits in 140 at-bats.
