Fitzgerald Takes This Week’s Trophy

At the age of 27, Kevin Fitzgerald might have some potential he hasn’t realized yet — if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Miami third baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .522 batting average. For his efforts Fitzgerald collected the National League Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 12 hits in 23 at-bats, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs last week in 6 games.

So far this season Fitzgerald is batting .251 with 21 home runs, 61 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He has 96 hits in 383 at-bats, 39 walks and a .321 OBP. Fitzgerald has played in 98 games.
