Red Hot Toscano Day-to-Day

The topic du jour around Colorado is whether Luis Toscano of the Rockies will suit up for today’s contest. He was injured yesterday against the Rangers while colliding with a player at a base. The standout 22-year-old second baseman has a strained rib cage muscle and didn’t rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.

“Luis will play if he can,” said the team doctor. “He hasn’t got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible.”

This season Toscano is batting .376 with 64 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 32 times and has 28 RBI.
