NY Post: Yanks Must Resist Temptation

Joel Sherman of the New York post had some advice for the Yankees and General Manager Brian Fahie in Sunday’s paper:

“The free agency period had begun and it is the lightest in terms of talent in recent years. Normally the top talents, regardless of the quality of the collective, are immediately linked to the big market teams. Namely the New York Yankees. This year is no different as mostly speculative news has been spread that Jake Odorizzi could be fitted for pin stripes. The Minnesota Twins starting pitcher had a nice year in 2019 and is certainly the cream of the crop this season. But that unfortunately is like being the skinniest kid at fat camp. The  Yankees need a starting pitcher, especially if they want to compete with the Astros who have three aces atop their rotation (one of which the Yankees were certainly hoping would become a free agent in Gerrit Cole). But they do not have to repeat the mistakes of the past and get locked into a true unknown like Odorizzi at top dollar.”
