Philadelphia-Detroit Deal: Hoskins for Boyd: The Philadelphia Phillies have made a deal sending 26-year-old 1B Rhys Hoskins to the Detroit Tigers for 28-year-old LHP Matt Boyd and 19-year-old minor league LF Luis Manuel Oviedo. Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out.
Lifetime Hoskins has played in 363 games with a .239 batting average. Among his 310 hits are 78 doubles, 5 triples and 81 home runs. He also has scored 212 runs and driven in 229 runs.
So far in his career, Boyd has collected 31 wins and 47 losses and has recorded an ERA of 4.92 and struck out 632 batters while pitching 645.1 innings.
