New York Deals Ellsbury to Colorado for Diaz: It took some time to iron out the details, but the Yankees and Rockies have agreed to a swap. Colorado will get 36-year-old CF Jacoby Ellsbury, 19-year-old minor league 2B Luis Angel Santos and 19-year-old minor league CF Ryder Green with New York receiving 28-year-old RHP Jairo Diaz and 25-year-old minor league RHP Justin Lawrence in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal.
During his career Ellsbury is batting .284 and has totaled 104 home runs.
Diaz owns a 6-5 won-lost record with a 4.23 ERA for his career. In 86 games he has recorded 5 saves, and the 28-year-old has 91 strikeouts in 87.1 innings of work.
