The League Championship Series went the distance before it all was said and done.
The Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Fenway Park, the winner was the Angels.
They put away Boston 9-7 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the World Series.
For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Boston left fielder J.D. Martinez was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .346, scored 5 runs and batted in 8 to win the honor.
“It’s nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I’d trade it in a heartbeat for a win,” he said.
The Los Angeles Angels will play against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the next round. Los Angeles won their series against the Cincinnati Reds 4 games to 0. The World Series is scheduled to begin on October 25th, 2021.
