The Cincinnati Reds triumphed 4-3 over the Atlanta Braves at Great American Ball Park in the Division Series to capture it 3-1.
The victory advanced the Reds to the League Championship Series.
For his superb play in the series, Reds first baseman Joey Votto garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .462, scoring 4 runs and batting in 3.
“Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the World Series,” Votto said later. “I’ll get to work on that.”
The Cincinnati Reds don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers – Washington Nationals series. Los Angeles leads the series 2 games to 1. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 16th, 2021.
