Collins’s Treatment Not Going Well, Suffers Setback

All is not well with Sam Collins in his recovery from a thumb contusion.

The 33-year-old Rockies center fielder has already reached some significant steps in his rehabilitation, but his manager said that the team will continue to be cautious with Collins and take his progression one day at a time, especially after the setback yesterday.

“Yesterday he was feeling good but he didn’t do a lot on the field,” he said. “Today he was supposed to be on the field doing light stuff and then gradually start working right back up. I think he overdid it.”

A post-workout examination revealed that Collins had re-injured himself and would now miss at least one week because of it.

For the season Collins is hitting .284, batted in 17 runs with 7 home runs and 31 runs scored.
