Hester’s 20-Game Hitting Streak Ends

Andy Hester saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die today during the New York Yankees win over Boston at Yankee Stadium. The 33-year-old third baseman was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Boston Red Sox, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 8-4.

“Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit,” a seemingly upbeat Hester told reporters in the clubhouse. “But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I’m just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good.”

Hester is hitting .381 so far this season with 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 16 hits including 3 home runs, 3 walks and .422 OBP.
