Yankees Prevail, as Divisional Series Goes to the Wire

The Divisional Series went the distance before it all was said and done.

The New York Yankees and the San Diego Padres went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Petco Park, the winner was the Yankees.

They put away San Diego 3-1 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship Series.

For his fine play, even in a losing effort, San Diego second baseman Teagan Golunski was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .423, scored 3 runs and batted in 5 to win the honor.

“It’s nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I’d trade it in a heartbeat for a win,” he said.

The League Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Divisional Series finishes.
