Miami Takes Wild Card Series in Deciding Game

Major League Baseball pundits who figured the Wild Card Series between the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Miami coming out on top thanks to a 8-7 win in the deciding game at Nationals Park, to wrap things up 2-1.

“You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we’re overjoyed to come out on top,” said Marlins third baseman Alvin Youngman, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Youngman had 4 hits for a .333 average. He had 2 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Miami Marlins will play against the Minnesota Twins in the next round. Minnesota had a bye in the Wild Card Series. The Divisional Series is scheduled to begin on October 7th , 2034.
