The Baseball News Network is reporting that Kansas City and Minnesota have agreed in principle to a swap that will send 27-year old 1B Kevin Villarreal to the Twins with 22-year old 3B Robby Watt joining the Royals. Kansas City general manager Chris Palmer would not confirm the trade, but a team representative close to the negotiations said the deal is official and is now only awaiting approval from the league.
This year Villarreal is batting .229 with 32 hits, 1 home run, 10 RBIs, 13 walks, .297 OBP and has scored 14 runs.
This year Watt is hitting .222 with 4 hits, no home runs, 0 RBIs and has scored 4 runs.
