Toronto Sends the Mets Home in One Game Playoff

The Toronto Blue Jays say they look forward to opening some eyes in the Major League Baseball playoffs.

“Teams may look past us as we didn’t win our division, but we plan to turn it up and play our best come playoffs,” said closer Andy Scott.

With a 87-76 record, the Blue Jays have clinched a wild card position in the American League. Toronto will now be looking to win its 3rd Major League Baseball championship.

Coming close doesn’t make missing the playoffs easier for the New York Mets. Club manager Omar Vizquel said it’s a “tough pill to swallow” as the club has now been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Before this season, the Mets last missed the playoffs in 2031. In the 72 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 57 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Mets have made the playoffs 5 times. New York last won the World Series in 1986.
