Mariners, Mets Close Deal

The Mariners and Mets announced a deal that was completed today. Seattle sent 28-year old RHP Joe Robertson, 26-year old LF Pat Byrnes, 34-year old minor league 3B Austin Shenton, and $2,500,000 in cash to New York for 21-year old minor league CF Chris Stoddard, 23-year old minor league RHP Phil Aldridge, and 22-year old minor league RHP Jeremy Stubblefield. Both teams appear happy with the outcome of the trade. The general managers told the Baseball News Network they felt the swap was beneficial for all parties involved.

Seattle will retain a portion of Robertson’s remaining contract.
Seattle will retain a portion of Byrnes’s remaining contract.

In 72 games this season Byrnes is batting .278 with 72 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 40 runs and driven in 40.
