Medina Bangs Out 5 Hits

Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit ones are a whole lot rarer. It happened at Nationals Park today when Juan Medina of Washington scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Cincinnati Reds.

He went 5-for-5 in a career performance to help the Nationals get by the Reds, 8-1. The left fielder was in a talkative and jovial mood after the game, saying his swing “was really, really there today.”

“I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens, good things happen,” he said. “You know, like going 5-for-5. I could get used to days like this.”

Juan Medina doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

This season in 9 games Medina is batting .361 with no home runs, 2 RBIs and has scored 3 times.
