Gimenez 5-for-7 Against New York

It’s not something you read about in the sports pages every day — a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career — and for Andres Gimenez, it came around today.

The 29-year-old shortstop scattered hits all over Yankee Stadium to pace the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees.

New York skipper Sid Roberson told reporters in the press room that “Gimenez deserves a hat-tip.”

“He hit some good pitches against us,” he said. “In fact, according to our scouting reports, Gimenez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit.”

Andres Gimenez singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 11th, hit a solo-shot off Trevor Stephan in the 13th and singled in the 15th.

So far in 2028 Gimenez is batting .264 with 9 home runs, 65 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has 120 hits in 454 at-bats and a .345 OBP.
