Sale Strikes Out 21 as Sox Advance

In a performance to behold, Chris Sale was masterful today in the Red Sox 11-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics. He had them batting the breeze most of the day. In a strong outing, Sale registered 21 strikeouts in the ballgame, gave up 6 hits and no walks.

It went the distance, but the Boston Red Sox finally disposed of the Oakland Athletics 11-4 in the series clincher at Fenway Park.

Winning the finale gave the Red Sox the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the League Championship Series.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Boston shortstop Andres Gimenez. He batted .409 in the series, collecting 2 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.

“Andres deserves it,” said Red Sox manager Mike Scioscia. “He was the glue that held our club together.”

The Boston Red Sox don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Cleveland IndiansHouston Astros series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The League Championship Series is scheduled to begin on October 16th, 2023.
